- Open to all artists participating in Open Studios.
- Each artist may submit one piece of art.
- Size restriction: 24".
- Should be ready to hang (or stand).
- Bring to Gallery X Wednesday September 1 to Sunday September 5
during gallery hours (Wednesday - Friday 11 am - 5 pm, Saturday & Sunday 11 am - 3 pm).

When to submit images and/or artist statement for the website
|
- No later than August 15, preferably much sooner
— if everything arrives on August 15 there won't be time to get it all on the website,
because in September the webmaster will be getting ready for his open studio.
- If I receive anything after August 15, for each artist I will only have time to put a single image and an artist statement on the website.
- I regret that I do not have time to change images on an ongoing basis between open studios events.
However, I will make changes in contact information (phone, email, address, website) at any time.

Have images and text on the website from 2009?
|
- If you paid for 20010, your 2009 images and text will stay on the website unless you send new images/text.
- If you have not paid for 2010, your 2009 images and text will be removed in late July.

Images for the website — number, types of file, pixel size, names of files
|
- Number of images: up to 9, including image on artist statement page
— to simplify adding your images, please send all of them on the same day.
- Last-year's images: you can keep last-year's images or send new images — if sending new images, indicate which if any of last-year's images are to be replaced.
- Types of file: almost any image files (jpg, jpeg, tif, bmp, psd, gif, etc),
but not word-processing or Acrobat/PDF.
- If you want me to take images from your website, clearly indicate which ones you want me to use. I cannot take images from Flash/animations.
- Pixel size of images: preferably at least 340 pixels high
(images at least 1,000 pixels high or wide may be used for print publicity or for a possible future version of the website with larger images).
- Names of files — allowed characters: you may include letters, numbers, -, and _. Using other characters, such as # or ' or & may prevent the image-display software from working (# definitely causes problems).
- Names of files — controlling display order: if you want to control display order, start name of first file with the numeral 1 (not with one), name of second file with numeral 2, etc. You must put the numeral at the start of the file name — numerals in the middle or at the end of the file name won't work. You must use numerals (1, 2, etc) rather than words (one or first, two or second, etc) because the software automatically sorts the files using the numerals at the start of the file name. Do not use numbers larger than 9.
- Image on artist-statement page: specify file name of a single image (if you don't, the webmaster will choose an image).
- Dots per inch (dpi) or pixels per inch: doesn't matter.
- Labels for images: images will not be labeled, because of the extra work required (sorry!).

Artist statement for the website — type(s) of art, content, length, format
|
- Type(s) of art: to attract more visitors, be specific — landscape paintings (rather than paintings);
modern furniture or arts-and-crafts furniture (rather than furniture).
- Content: whatever helps people understand you and/or your art, plus contact info (email, phone, etc).
- Length: just enough to get people interested; not so much that people get overwhelmed.
- Format: plain text in an email or almost any word processing file
(Microsoft Word - doc, .docx, plain text - txt, rich text - rtf, Word Perfect - wpd or doc, etc — but see below for Microsoft Works and Macintosh iWork/Pages information)
— save a Microsoft Works document as a .txt, .rtf, or .doc file, not as a .wks or .wps file
— save or export a Macintosh iWork/Pages document as a .txt, .rtf, .doc, or .docx file, not as a .pages file
— do not send an Acrobat/PDF file or printed-on-paper or text as an image (for example, not as a jpg file).

Images and artist statement for the website — delivering
|
- Email: send all the image files and the artist statement to the webmaster, danielkamman@industrialjewelry.com. All files in 1 email is best for me, but if the total of all the files in an email is more than 14 MB the email may not be delivered.
- Postal mail: put all images and artist statement on 1 CD and send the CD to the webmaster at the Ropeworks:

- Email and Postal mail: you may submit images on one date and artist statement on another day
(but please submit all images on the same day).
