Liz LaValley — Ivory, Ink, Beads
|
|
I am always experimenting with the beauty of the inked line and watercolor on paper and ivory. A scrimshander since 1973, enhanced by a BFA in engraving, I produce wearable art that expresses itself in New England traditional terms and distinctive flights of imagination. My pieces won "Best Body of Work" at Philcon, and recently I represented the New Bedford Whaling Museum for the ECHO Project, wherein jewelry artists from Hawaii, Alaska and Massachusetts collaborated in an exchange celebrating cultural traditions. My jewelry and paintings are primarily displayed at Gallery X in New Bedford, as well as various science fiction and fantasy conventions. I also do lectures with antique pieces accessible to audience members and live demonstrations of scrimshaw, the Yankee Sailor's Art. |
