Huguette Despault May — Charcoal on paper, Photography

I work with imagery of knotted or twisted rope to help me describe the felt but unexpressed visceral world of the mind/body. These surrogate "bodies" seem fitting metaphors for the tension and power struggles that we inevitably experience as human beings. I have found that charcoal is the most expressive medium for this series of large drawings.
