My ceramic work includes large hand built vessels with incised,
colorful imagery; functional pottery, tiles, personalized wedding
platters, bookends and an ongoing series of whimsical miniature chairs.
The large vessels act as clay canvases for my drawings, the imagery
inspired by my dreams and waking life. How the images interact, evolve
and develop is a very organic and intuitive process. They are
improvisational drawings, I have no plan when I begin, each previous
image informs the next. The ceramic chairs developed from my attraction
to the chairs inherent figurative reference. The chair motif allows me
to create a mini stage, placing objects, figures, animals,
architectural elements and forms on or within a chair expressing a
state of mind, sense of place or past experience. I gladly accept
commissions.
